The Spaces Between…

backUnbelievably, it’s been all of six months. The most unexpected and hectic six months possible. Hopefully, with some luck and a good tail wind, things will settle into a reasonable sense of normality, now that we are falling into the darkness of winter.

It all started with a weekend away, in April. As part of the event, an early morning ritual would prove to be my unending…

When they say “Wait in your room in silence. Your guide will come with instructions”, the last thing you expect, when the knock finally comes and you open the door, is to find yourself face to face with a representation of one of your ACTUAL guides, impossibly tall and completely filling the doorway. Imposing and regal, Anubis handed me written instructions, bowed, and left before my befuddled brain had time to come to terms with it all.

Shortly thereafter, a bedraggled bunch of bed-heads paraded through a chocolate-box, English village in Derbyshire, guided by the flowing, black cloak of a striding, jackal-headed deity.

Through the trees, a glint of gold. Anubis opens the gate. Part way up the hill, a natural platform. Isis, golden wings spread, awaits. As we gather at the foot of the ritual mound, Osiris is revealed for the first time, hidden and protected from the World by Isis’ wings.

The ritual elements are described by Sue Vincent, here.

It was all going so well. Until, that is, I was presented to Osiris:

Enfolded in the cloak of night [I am] brought before the face of death in life and life in death, bowing to him who is and is not, gazing into the glowing heart of the crystal.

I am pulled to the outside of everything. Isis is somewhere, far off. I hear not her words, but am anchored by her distant, soothing tones. The spaces between space shimmer and fall away. Deeper levels unfold. The void is all… I lock on to the song of Isis to find my way back.

Lord only knows what She thought, as a disheveled, slack jawed, vacant-eyed traveler appeared before her…

So here we are. Six months to work through that little lot, assimilate the energies of the experience (and a few others it opened up along the way). Looking forward to sharing some of them in the coming weeks, and to play catch up on what you’ve all been up to while I’ve been gone. 🙂

  1. So very glad you’re back. Have wondered about you. Not quite sure I understand what happened and seem to be the only who doesn’t. Will look forward to reading more of your fascinating posts in the future and pray for understanding. xx ellen

The ‘Weekend away’ bit confused me gal. Had to look up what one was. Only joking, take care.

So lovely to see you again, Elk: beautifully expressed – and the memories of that morning, so wonderfully evoked, brought tears. Sharing now. xxx

One Companion’s account of the hillside ritual, A Dream of the Soul, from the Silent Eye’s ‘Land of the Exiles’ workshop in April 2014. Sadly this account missed the deadline for the Land of the Exiles workbook by Steve Tanham which gives a full account of the weekend.
